Service and Purpose

For quite some time now it has been essential to me to figure out a way to make my work purposeful and in service of others. I feel good about what I have accomplished in achieving this goal but…it has always been behind the scenes. I have always felt most comfortable working for/with others. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a little praise and have been met with much kindness over the years but I never put my name on the marquee.

Turns out, I do have things that I want to say. Truths are churning out of my heart that have been vetted by service and heartache and joy and community…and I am done being afraid of them. When I was younger they were just opinions and honestly, I should have been more skeptical of them. But the wisdom traditions all teach that through contemplation you can begin to recognize the bullshit in your ideas and distill it down into usable truths. I’m done worrying that I am still full of shit, that what I have to say isn’t interesting enough or won’t help people, or will get criticized. Truth is, what I have to say isn’t always that interesting, it won’t necessarily help people, it will certainly get criticized and I am in the process so there is most defiantly still some bullshit in here! …but it is time to get to work anyway.

Kate Bee Moves is a part of this growth for me, stepping out from the collective, out from the safety of my teachers, and staking claim to what is my own dharma, my own purpose. The most terrifying part of the Kate Bee Moves plan is the one I have been dilly-dallying on the most, BUT NOT anymore! I AM INTERESTED IN A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO A SENSE OF DEEP PURPOSE and when it comes to purpose, the first step is to study the self. Figure out who you really are, and from there, you can figure out what you might be perfectly designed for; your purpose. The best way to begin a study of self is to get out of your norm, get a little uncomfortable…is the discomfort you can begin to see how you react, what your habits are, what you like, and what you push against. Yoga postures help because they make the body a little uncomfortable, and meditation works because it makes the mind a little uncomfortable. TRAVEL works because it makes the whole system a little uncomfortable while at the same time excited and curious and open to the newness!

This is the birth of the Service Retreat Program at Kate Bee Yoga. If you are interested in travel and self-discovery and being of service to this big beautiful world and all of its amazing beings, we just might have some work to do together!!!

I realize there are millions of retreats; Wellness retreats, Yoga retreats, Meditation retreats, Luxury retreats, Spa retreats, Adventure retreats, Detox retreats, Digital detox retreats, Beach retreats, Eco-friendly retreats, Couples retreats, Mountain retreats, Hiking retreats, Spiritual retreats…. and I am into ALL OF THAT. I can aim every single one of those at self-discovery, purpose, and service.

If you’re interested in what I’m talking about, read more below, hit me up, or sign up for my KBM Newsletter (I say all kinds of shit in there!!!)
